How To See Your Competitors' Facebook Ads (Free, Step By Step)
Every ad your competitors run on Facebook and Instagram is public. Here is exactly how to find them, which ones matter, and what to look at in each.
You do not need a paid spy tool to see what your competitors are running. Meta publishes every active ad on Facebook and Instagram in a free, public library. No account needed. The skill is not finding the ads — it is knowing which ones are worth your time.
Step by step
- Open the Facebook Ad Library at facebook.com/ads/library.
- Set the country to "All" and the ad category to "All ads". Leaving it on one country hides competitors advertising elsewhere — and many dropshippers run in only one or two markets.
- Search the competitor's brand or page name and pick their page from the dropdown. Searching a keyword instead returns every ad that mentions the word, which is mostly noise.
- Sort mentally by start date. Every ad shows "Started running on". That date is the most important thing on the page.
Which ads actually matter
Ad spend is a vote. Nobody keeps paying for an ad that loses money, so:
- Running 30+ days: almost certainly profitable. Study these first.
- Running 1–2 weeks: still being tested. Interesting, not proven.
- Started in the last few days: tells you nothing yet. Many of these will be switched off.
Also notice ads labelled with multiple versions. A page running many variations of one idea has found something that works and is scaling it.
What to look at in a winning ad
- The first three seconds. What is on screen and what is said before anyone could scroll away. This is where the money is made.
- The angle. Who is the ad talking to, and what problem does it name? The same product sold to a different person is effectively a different product.
- The offer. Price, bundle, discount, shipping promise.
The catch
You have to know who your competitors are before you can look them up — and the library will not tell you that. Searching by product is unreliable, because it only matches words written in the ad. Finding the stores first is the slow part.
Doing it faster: AdDoctor finds the competing stores for you from your own product link, then pulls their live ads with how many days each has been running — so you go straight to the ones worth studying.
Stop guessing which second kills your ad.
AdDoctor connects to your Meta ad account and shows you exactly where viewers scroll away — and which competitor stores are running ads in your niche right now.
