How To Find Who Sells A Product From Just A Picture

You have a photo of a product and no name, no link, no store. Here is how to find every store selling it — and why a normal reverse image search often finds nothing.

You saw it in an ad, a TikTok, or a screenshot someone posted. No product name, no store link. You want to know who sells it, what they charge, and whether anyone is making money with it.

Most people try one reverse image search, get nothing useful, and give up. That first search usually fails for a specific reason — and once you know it, the photo becomes the best lead you have.

Why a reverse image search often finds nothing

Google Lens and similar tools match pictures, not products. They look for other pages using the same or a similar image. That breaks in three common ways:

The method that actually works

  1. Crop to the product only. Remove the background, the hand, the logo. Then run the image search on that crop. This alone fixes most failures.
  2. Try every photo you have, not one. Each image tends to surface a different set of stores. The second or third photo is often the one that hits.
  3. Describe it in plain words and search that. Not the brand — what it physically is: "yellow emoji face ski mask", "pet nail grinder". Sellers name products creatively, but they all describe them the same way.
  4. Try the words sellers use, not the words you would use. Look at the titles of the first few matches and borrow their phrasing for your next search.
  5. Check which of those stores are advertising. Look each one up in the Facebook Ad Library. A store with ads running for weeks is your real competitor; a store with none may have given up.

When it still finds nothing

Sometimes the honest answer is that the product barely exists outside one shop. Brand-new stores, custom items, and AI-generated mockups of products that were never manufactured all show up this way. Two signs worth noticing: every image looks slightly too perfect, and the only stores selling it were all registered in the last few months. Order one sample before building anything around it.

Doing it faster: paste a store link into AdDoctor's competitor search and it does this whole sequence for you — matching the photos, naming the product, finding the stores selling it, and showing which of them are running Facebook ads and for how long.

Stop guessing which second kills your ad.

AdDoctor connects to your Meta ad account and shows you exactly where viewers scroll away — and which competitor stores are running ads in your niche right now.
