Can You See A Competitor's Facebook Ad Performance Or Budget?
What you can and cannot see about a competitor's Facebook ads — spend, results, audience — and the honest signals that tell you whether an ad is working.
Short answer: you cannot see a competitor's spend, sales, click-through rate or return on ad spend. That data is private to the advertiser, and any tool claiming to show a competitor's real ROAS is guessing. But you can see more than most people think — and a few public signals tell you a lot.
What is genuinely private
- Budget and spend. Not published for normal commercial ads. Spend ranges are only shown for political and social-issue ads.
- Results. Sales, conversions, cost per purchase, ROAS — never public.
- Clicks and CTR. Not public.
What you can actually see
- How long each ad has been running. The single most useful signal. An ad live for two months is being paid for every day, which almost always means it is profitable.
- How many versions they run. Many variations of one idea means they found a winner and are scaling it.
- Reach and audience in the EU. For ads shown to people in the European Union, the Ad Library publishes an estimated reach and the age, gender and country breakdown. If your competitor advertises in Europe, open the ad's details and look.
- Where it runs. Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Audience Network.
- What customers say. Comments under a competitor's posts are public, and they are where real complaints show up — late shipping, wrong sizing, no reply from support. Those complaints are your angle.
Reading the signals together
No single signal is proof. Read them together:
- Long-running ad + many versions + steady comments = a working product.
- Many new ads, all under two weeks, none surviving = everyone is testing and losing.
- One ad running for months from a big brand = could be brand awareness, not proof the product sells. Big companies run ads for reasons other than profit.
Doing it faster: AdDoctor shows how long each competitor's ads have been running and reads the comments under their posts, pulling out what their customers actually complain about — the public signals, in one place.
Stop guessing which second kills your ad.
AdDoctor connects to your Meta ad account and shows you exactly where viewers scroll away — and which competitor stores are running ads in your niche right now.
